James Wildman Family Philosophy of Education

  1. God is the source, root and fountain of all knowledge and truth. All true knowledge comes from the fear of God, and leads to wisdom if guided into correct application (Prov 1:2-5, 7)

  2. His power and might are revealed all around us, if our spiritual eyes are open to see what He has placed in the world as His witness. (Psal 19:1-4)

  3. All studies should start from the Bible, emanate from the Bible, and draw us back to the Bible. (2 Tim 3:16)

  4. God designed true learning to flow from authority figures to those for whom they are responsible. (Prov 2:1. 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 6:20-24, etc., notice 'my son')

  5. The father sets the tone and direction of the instruction and oversees the general progress of the students. (Gen 18:19) The mother takes the part of nurturing and teaching the children.

  6. We believe that each individual is created with a divine natural gift and plan within them, and that only with the proper prayer, meditation and leading can the individual grow into the joyful fulfilled being God intended them to be. It is extremely important that the instruction take into account the natural 'bent' or talents of each child. (Prov 22:6, Jer 29:11)

  7. Fathers are not to hammer their children into conformity with their image of what should be. They are to search out what God has placed in each child, whether it be gifts of compassion, or leadership, or planning, or woodworking, and guide the child into the correct appreciation for and use of those gifts for God's glory and the advancement of His kingdom. (Eph 6:4, Col 3:21)

  8. We believe that the only place for this nurturing is within the home with ungodly distractions removed and other inputs carefully chosen by the parents. (Deut 6:6-7)
